Julian Ritter was a dynamic man whose love of painting and the sea was captured in many pictures. But Julian had other great loves as well: his family, landscaping and gardening, drinking with his buddies.
Here is the Ritter family photo album showing Julian throughout the years.
Julian Ritter was assigned to paint a portrait of Lt. general Ben "Yoo-Hoo" Lear, the commanding officer of the 2nd Army. While Julian was stationed in Memphis to do the painting, he asked Hilde Meyer-Radon to come to Memphis and then asked her to marry him. They were married in a civil ceremony in Hernando, Mississippi in 1943 and spent the next six weeks together while Julian completed the painting. This picture shows the two of them shortly after they were married.
